I love how the fading sun illuminates the garden at this time of year.
Here’s a few images of the garden and of course the sky!

Promise of a sunny day to follow.
Don’t forget Garden Bloggers Foliage Day on the 22nd, that’s Saturday.

Lovely skies, lovely end to the day, foliage post ready and waiting!
Hope to have the foliage post up tomorrow. Christina
Wow Christina! Your garden looks absolutely beautiful. Love the photographs.
Magical settings Christina! I could sense the light today too.
I love the glow of autumn light as well as it illuminates the grasses especially…stunning effect in your garden
I love to see the falling sun rays too. The photo with grass eluminated by evening sun is nice!
Beautiful pics, Christina! Your garden does look magnificent in the evening light! Is the tall grass in the first picture a stipa gigantea? And what’s the grass in the second pic?
Yes, the first pic is Stipa gigantea, this is the first year its flowered and I love it. Best of all it survived without water this year – which is a real plus! The second image is Calamagrostis × acutiflora ‘Karl Foerster’; with no irrigation it is dormant and the plants are actually getting smaller each year; with a little irrigation there is new new foliage amongst the brown. Which of your grasses have done well this hot, hot year? Christina
Andropogon scoparius, all the panicums, Indian grass and eragrostis (not the e. spectabilis, though). All the miscanus I have they are very well established with deep roots, so they’ve done well too…
Gorgeous and your garden looks stunning. I just love the light on the grasses.
I really couldn’t be without grasses in the garden, they add so much. Christina
