There are always a lot here, so I often don’t pay that much attention to them; I took these images for my SIL, who was here helping with the olive harvest, because she didn’t have a good macro on her camera.
Oh I just love these wonderful creatures!!!!!!! Have you tried picking one up and looking into its eyes? I have and it jumped on my face!! I was rather shocked at first but then it became a bit of a fun game 🙂 I love the way they fly rather comically through the air too. Wonderful broccoli too of course! 🙂
Fun pictures Christina! What amazing creatures (and your broccoli looks beautiful).
Thanks Susie, we actually ate that broccoli yesterday and it tasted as good as it looked.
Fantastic pictures Christina! I would love to find one in my garden… 😀

It is so cool to find fab insects like this where we were not expecting them. Quite a wonderful visitor!
It is such an amazing looking insect, I was so surprised the first time I saw one.
I find one only occasionally, and it is always a special occasion.
they are very widespread through the world then?
What amazing pictures Christina! I am really looking forward to following your blog.
I will enjoy following what you are doing with your garden too.
Wow! What an impressive creature. Our crickets and grasshoppers can’t match it for size but I’m always fascinated when I discover them.

No, I’ve never picked one up and I don’t think I’ve seen one fly either. I don’t think I would like it flying onto my face!
I spotted my first ever one of these in our olive grove last week. They are huge!
Yes, I was so surprised the first time I saw one.
Really nice pictures of the praying mantis! I often find praying mantis on my rose bushes, they are really neat creatures.
