A little late today and no time to write much.
Just some images for you to see what I am enjoying at the moment. I am so pleased with the how quickly the spring walk looks as I imagined that I am already planning to extend it this autumn and move and add some shrubs that I think will add to the effect.
Now that the Freesias have finished flowering (the species) I going to move some of them to add another layer (perfume) to the border; also some of the over-crowded Muscari can be moved now.
My tulips in pots are just opening, I love the idea of a Spring walk, just the phrase itself is lovely, yours is beautiful Christina.
Thank you Julie, the name is important too, you’re right.
Congratulations on reaching this blogging milestone Christina. I enjoy your spring walk and I just love the very idea of having one also.
I don’t know why I didn’t think of having one before. It also makes sense with the climate here. Summer gardening isn’t so easy.
Christina you may not be able to grow Narcissus very well but your garden and climate certainly suit Tulips, unlike my garden and climate,
your spring walk looks beautiful and there is so much more variety of colour with tulips, Frances
Yes Frances. That’s true; it is easy to want what you don’t have and I’m trying hard not to do that. If I have to choose between tulips and daffodils, tulips win so I mustn’t complain.
🙂
I’m learning to go with what grows in my garden and enjoy the plants I can’t grow virtually in other peoples gardens, Frances
Yes, that’s what I do too.
I have enjoyed seeing your different tulips Christina – it is really encouraging me to plant more. The Ballerinas are gorgeous!
I didn’t realize just how beautiful they would be.
Your Spring Walk is going to be something you look forward to in winter with its bright colours. Amelia
Perhaps even more I will look back to it in summer when. Of much flowers unless watered madh
Love the pinks and purples especially – they add a touch of romance to the walk. 😀
It is fun that different colour combinations become more apparent in different lights or just different days.
Very beautiful! Lots of wonderful color! Enjoy!
I am thank you.
Between those tulips (I didn’t think they could get any better!), the wisteria, and the poppies, I don’t know how you manage to focus on anything else long enough to get any work done! It really looks great 🙂
Thank you. I am spending a lot of time this spring just enjoying everything. When the drought arrives I am hoping I can concentrate on remembering spring!
What a wonderful border full of colour, your tulips are so beautiful! I can imagine you wandering along just like I do in the woodland! I think drifts of flowers make such an impact, so much better than just one here and one there, but then, we are both lucky to have room to play with!
Yes, it is so much easier in a larger garden to create the effects you want. I am very grateful for the space I have although of course one always craves more.
Beautiful! It just goes to show a girl can never have too many tulips. I love them.
Just beautiful! You put a yearning in my heart for my garden to burst with color! A few more weeks……
Your spring walk is so beautiful – T. Ballerina is a favourite of mine that has just flowered here. I like all the Lily varieties, but Ballerina and White Triumphator are my favourites.
White Triumphator has always been a favourite of mine too, T. Ballerina is new this year and I think it is one of the most elegant tulips I grow. They have also lasted well, next year I will grow some to cut.
White Triumphator is my absolute desert island tulip – I just love it!
When I lived in England it was my absolute favourite too, but it has never grown as well for me here, a mystery as to why. But I will try some again for next year as they are so beautiful as a cut tulip.
How beautiful! The gorgeous jewel colours, are so bright and cheery! I really must plant more tulips. They give such variety of colour and create some wonderful combinations.
I don’t think I could live without tulips in the garden. I wanted the spring walk to be just a huge mix of colour but in the rest of the garden they are planted in groups of one colour.
As soon as your blog opened on my screen I started making so much noise that P had to come and see what the ‘problem’ was… no problem, just a severe case of tulip envy. They are absolutely gorgeous!
I’m glad you enjoyed them Kate, I’m not sure much longer they will be in flower.
Fabulous tulips, Christina. Your spring walk looks absolutely glorious!
Thank you Sara.
I adore tulips, and you have an enviable collection there. ‘Ballerina’ is my all-time favourite, for the form and for the scent. I was so annoyed when the combination of ‘Ballerina’ and ‘Doll’s Minuet’ I had ordered from Sarah Raven turned out to all be a pale pink tulip. Its rather pretty actually, and will fit into the front garden beautifully, but that’s really not the point! What will you follow the tulips with?
