Your Wisteria is so beautiful Christina, I’ve just read your comment to Susie, we had lunch sitting on a pile of bricks sheltering from the rain, to say I am envious is an understatement!
It’s beautiful, Christina. I’ve always admired Wisteria but here it borders on invasive. In fact, I’ve been trying (unsuccessfully to date) to remove some since we moved in 5 years ago. Do you have any trouble controlling it?
It usually flowers about now, there is always a little variation of a week or two. This week (not Monday) the sun has been shining and it has been pleasantly warm.
The warm sunshine on Wednesday and Thursday have induced many more of the blooms to open. My husband worked with his study window open so that the perfume could waft in; in a couple of days it may be so strong that it will be impossible to sit under it for long.
I wish you were here to smell mine; it is now almost over powering and can be smelt all around the garden especially as the sun is hot today.
I am trying to wish myself into the vicinity of it so I can smell it, Christina – and it is clear that the heat of the sun has a lot do with how powerful the fragrance is, so presumably they will rarely smell as strong here?
It does depend on the variety to some extent but I have smelled wonderful ones on England, a neighbor of mine had one, there are s lot of flowers open on mine of course so that must make a difference.
I always look forward to your wisteria flowering, though I wish I could share the fragrance too. Simply stunning.
Christina que maravilla que su Wisteria empiece a florecer. Dentro de nada su perfume embriagador lo inundará todo. Y la vista de la espectaculares flores es preciosa. Saludos de Margarita. margarita141.
Oh, so beautiful! I can almost get that magical fragrance from your photos.
As I said to Jessica “It’s just beginning; when it’s all out the perfume will be so strong it won’t be possible to sit under it!”
Oh fabulous Christina. I bet the scent is divine too 🙂

That’s a WOW!
Just wait until it’s all flowering! There’ll be a post every day!
Glorious! The scent!
My favourite!
Beautiful. We’ve been seeing it opening here too since Saturday. I love it from my childhood.
Sitting under the pergola now having lunch, the perfume is divine.

We bought this house so we could build a pergola so I could have wisteria. Obsessive? Moi?
How lovely, I bet that smells divine.
Oh yes, wonderful! 🙂
Thanks Cathy, it is my pride and joy!

Oh wow those are a lot of buds yet to come! I love wisteria as well, even though it has a bad reputation on this side of the Atlantic.
Oh my goodness and it’ s not even April yet. How wonderful.

Oh my how stunning against the stone and wood….the color and scent!
What a sight to see today when it is cold, miserable and wet! I think it will be a little while yet until I can enjoy our Wisteria. Amelia
It’s always nice to have pleasures to look forward to Amelia.
Looks like you have the structure to stand up to it’s aggressive style…and can reap the benefits.
In Europe Wisteria doesn’t have the bad reputation it does in the States, I don’t know why. I love it!
I understand your joy as I feel that same elation when mine flowers ☺

And I am not convinced mine has a fragrance – will check that out once it flowers again!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know it sounds daft – but honestly, I have never been aware of it 😉 There again, the flowers do tend to hang way above my head!

Having a late breakfast under the wisteria now, it is the noise from all the bees I’d like to share.
