The cut flower beds at the end of June

At last here is my post reviewing the cut flower beds.  almost everything I sowed during the winter is flowering now so I have flowers dotted all around the house and in the last week I have been able to give away four full bouquets; this is bounty I would never have dreamed of a couple of years ago.

The past week it has become hot!  Summer arrived with a bang and not gently the way I would prefer.  I’m joining Cathy at Words and Herbs to show the same view each week to be able to see the changes (or not) that occur during the year.

In a Vase on Monday – Intense

There is an embarrassment of flowers to cut at the moment, maybe there are too many cut flowers beds; but to have enough of the colours I want and the variations through the season could I have less?  I’ll continue this theme when I very belatedly get around to writing my cut flower beds review later this week, but for today let me show you what I chose to share in Cathy’s ‘In a vase on Monday’ meme.

GBFD – Green June

June has sped by; so much so that the fact that today is the 22nd of the month had completely passed me by as you will know as I said yesterday that I would be posting about the cut flower beds today, ho hum, that will have to be tomorrow now; Cathy at Rambling in the garden has posted about her cut flowers today so perhaps those who want to join with that should link to her.  But I hope you will join me in writing about your foliage too because even though I know your June gardens are filled with flowers it is the foliage that makes the garden look truly beautiful.

Tuesday View – 21st June 2016

I apologise to those of you who were expecting a report on the cut flower beds today but when I wrote the post yesterday I had forgotten that Tuesday is not the day to join Cathy at Words and Herbs  and show one view of the garden each week to see how it changes or not as the case may be.

In a Vase on Monday – One white and one dark

We were away at the weekend staying with friends who had taken a house in Tuscany; As today had been forecast to rain from 7 in the morning until 9 tonight I thought it wise to pick my flowers for today’s vase for Cathy immediately – there were a huge number of flowers screaming out to be picked and because of the forecast I picked almost all of them, filling 4 containers!

Having encouraged Cathy at Words and Herbs to start posting a view from the garden on Tuesday afternoon again, the least I can do is join her by showing the same view from my garden each week.

In a Vase on Monday – Abundance

Think how much pleasure you gain from a vase of flowers in the house; think how much more pleasure there is when you have grown the flowers from seed and grown them in your own garden.  This is what Cathy at Rambling in the Garden asks us to do each week and I want to repeat that she is a star!  Creating vases even if she is far from home, plonking a few things in a vase to encourage every one to join in – you don’t need to be an expert flower arranger to gain pleasure from your flowers, anyway I feel it can’t be said too many times, THANK YOU CATHY.
