Cathy at Words and Herbs asks us to choose one view of our garden and show it each week.  It is a great exercise for learning how much (or little) a view changes during the seasons.

In a Vase on Monday – Sunny Days

Monday is the day to pick flowers from your garden, pop them into a vase and join Cathy at Rambling in the Garden.  I’ve always loved having cut flowers in the house but rarely did so before deciding cut flower borders were the way to go; this meme has kept the momentum going when other things could have got in the way of actually picking and arranging the flowers.

Monday is here again and it is time to rise to Cathy at Rambling in the Garden challenge to pick flowers from our own gardens to enjoy in our homes.

Mid July Harvest

It is over a month since I last wrote about the vegetable garden and there is much more to harvest now.

Tuesday View 12th July 2016

The last week has been scorching hot; by 9 am I need to close all the windows that are open at night to let some cool air into the house.  The outer and inner shutters  are closed so that the house is dark.  So far it still feels cool when I walk into the house from outside, I don’t know how much longer that will last.

In a vase on Monday – Rich and Sumptuous

Last week Cathy at Rambling in the Garden sent out a challenge to create a Japanese style flower arrangement this week; I have to tell you I failed!  I’m sorry Cathy but there are just too many flowers demanding to be picked to fill vase upon vase with home grown blooms.  I will try in the future, I promise but for today restraint has not been my watchword.

Today has been too hot, now in the late evening it is a pleasure to be outside listening to frogs and birds?

The lights put in last autumn in the new area created when the formal beds were removed are adding to the enjoyment of the garden immensely.
