I’m pleased to see that the divisions I’ve made of Iris unguicularis are all now producing flowers. It is the plant that flowers for the longest period during winter; often from November to May
It lives in my very free draining soil without any irrigation; the leaves are evergreen. for me it is a very easy plant and there aren’t so many of those!!
Christina is a wonder of Iris: all winter in bloom. The color is beautiful. It must be a delight to stroll through the garden and see it. I do not think I can withstand the snowfall in my garden. Greetings from Margarita.
Well as 5 cm thick. This is a small snowfall. When I buy the USB cable from the camera, I will put the ones I could take in the previous snowfall, which lasted very little because in a few hours it started to rain, with the yellow roses in bloom dropping snowflakes in mid November. Weird, no? Greetings from Margarita.
That Iris species is utterly new to me. It’s very pretty. I found it listed in the inventory for my favorite mail order nursery. It’s currently unavailable but I added it to my wish list as it sounds as if it might be a good fit here.
I have been looking out for this iris for a while now, but they do sell out quickly and I can’t make up my mind which one to buy or where I will put it. Maybe I will buy it this year as it is so lovely.
Now that’s a nice iris- I’ll have to investigate a source here in Australia! Sounds like a good one for Winter.
Don’t be put off if it takes a couple of years to establish, once it has madea good clump it doesn’t stop flowering.
It sounds great! Any particular likes or requirements?

Thank you! Sounds perfect!
Great blooming period. Love the color.
It is lovely to see it every time I go into the garden.
Beautiful. I am usually successful with Iris but I have managed to kill off a couple of these. 😦 Amelia
I wonder why yours have died.
I was overconfident and did not mark them out for special TLC, I think.
Mine don’t receive any care at all.
I tried them after admiring yours on your blog. It looks like I am going to have to give them another go 🙂
Don’t expect them to flower in their first year, mine took a couple years before they flowered and more before they flowered for the whole winter.
Beautiful! No blooms here yet, but we just had our first significant rain since the end of May.
Good news about your rain

How much snow do you have Margarita?

I didn’t realise that you have so much snow every year; your gardening conditions aren’t easy with hot summers and cold winters.

I’ve never had to water it so I’m sure it could do well for you.

See my reply to Amelia about growing this Iris.
Thanks – points noted.
Just seen one of these today and had forgotten how petite they are – yours look so perfect, and what a long flowering season!
If there is a very cold period it will stop for a while.
A lovely sky blue Iris with an unfortunate name. I always think of it as “ugly nose Iris”.
Why?
Pianta preziosa e luminosa!
