  1. Christina is a truly divine Butterfly, I love it. How can you know the name of the butterflies! The photos are fantastic. I’m glad you have butterflies in the garden. I do not have any, but neither do flowers for them: the only thing there are roses, lavender and the flower of the elderberry. The Dahlias are not going well, it will be the heat of 31ºC and the sun or I have planted them too late. The same is encouraged. Christina a question please, Do you have Peas de Olor ?, if you have them Plants in full sun or in the shade? I beg you answer me because I planted some seeds and the plants are already to plant, with delay, but to plant since I have them. Thank you very much for everything, you are very kind, thank you. Take care. Greetings from Margarita.

    • Do you mean Sweet Peas (Lathyrus odoratus)? I think you do. I don’t grow them as it is too hot for them to grow well for me. They like sun and plenty of water. Dahlias don’t mind the heat so that shouldn’t be a problem for them. It is now hotter with you than it is here. It must be a difficult place to garden, going from quite cold to so hot very quickly.

      • Yes, Christina, now yes. Ten years ago the maximum in summer was 25ºC. But with the Climate Change the temperatures have gone up a lot. Choosing plants that hold -15ºC in winter and up to 33ºC in summer is complicated, but there are. The complicated thing is to endure the heat, because the cold with the fireplace, the wood stove and the electric radiators is very hot in the house and if you want to go out you wrap yourself with snow equipment. And not with this unbearable heat that you can not leave the house until 8:30 p.m. Thankfully, this house is cool because of the thick walls it has and the old thing that it is: stone, adobe and a thick layer of lime. They look like the walls of a castle !!!!! I’m sorry for telling so many things, but I consider you my friend. I’m glad you do not have as much heat as I do. Thank you very much for the advice of the plants. Have a good Sunday afternoon. Greetings from Margarita.

        • My house has very thick walls too, so it is cool inside. Our temperatures are usually in the mid to high thirties in July and August but hopefully lower this year.

          • Christina, may God hear you and come down this year. Here in Spain they have also said that it will be a summer less hot than the previous year but with abundant heat waves. I’m glad your house is cold, at least you do not get hot inside. Take care. Greetings from Margarita.

  2. Swallowtails are beautiful! We usually have a variety of swallowtails in late summer/early fall. I have seen a few already. I planted fennel and rue to attract them.
