As I mentioned in my post on Monday; on my return from Amsterdam to see the tulips my own garden had exploded into full growth mode.
When I left tulips were still looking amazing and there were buds forming on the bearded Iris. Now all the tulips are just a memory and the Irises are in their full glory. Continue reading

For the past few days the light in the afternoon has been different from the rest of the day and different from other times of year. As I write on Friday afternoon at 5 pm the wind is blowing a gale and hail is hitting the west and north-west facing windows; it is very nearly dark now. The tulips are two or possibly three weeks late flowering this year and it is noticeable that the ones planted as additions to the spring walk in November 2014 have flowered earlier than those planted the year before. Continue reading
I have begun to check out the Spring Walk in the hope of seeing some spring flowers beginning. At present I can’t see any tulip shoots pushing up and as I mentioned before I have seen some evidence of mice but I can’t imagine they’re eaten them all can they? Continue reading
