A walk around the garden May 2018 – Iris paradise.

As I mentioned in my post on Monday; on my return from Amsterdam to see the tulips my own garden had exploded into full growth mode.

When I left tulips were still looking amazing and there were buds forming on the bearded Iris.  Now all the tulips are just a memory and the Irises are in their full glory. Continue reading

Afternoon light in winter

For the past few days the light in the afternoon has been different from the rest of the day and different from other times of year.  As I write on Friday afternoon at 5 pm the wind is blowing a gale and hail is hitting the west and north-west facing windows; it is very nearly dark now.  On Wednesday I managed to brave the cold to take a few photographs. First flower in the spring walk

In contrast to the dull day yesterday, today is mild and sunny, the perfect day to be outside but I’m still a little unwell to work outside but the sunshine brightens my spirits even if I am indoors.  It was warm enough for a walk around the garden to check if there are any new shoots or promises of buds to open.
