Continuing our walk around the garden I will also show you some close-ups of some of the Irises. A word about names. I only know the names of about a third of the Irises I have in the garden. I bought some named varieties from Cayeux, and some named varieties were given or sold to me by friends (a problem here is that they had named some of their stock themselves for ease of knowing what was where in the garden but of course I don’t remember which are true names and which are their invention. Several I’ve purchased from Italian nurseries call them ‘Pink’ or tall blue so not very helpful. So I will only give names to those I am 100% sure of. As I mentioned in my post on Monday; on my return from Amsterdam to see the tulips my own garden had exploded into full growth mode.
When I left tulips were still looking amazing and there were buds forming on the bearded Iris. Now all the tulips are just a memory and the Irises are in their full glory. Continue reading

Sunday wasn’t as windy as had been forecast but there was a lot of rain; welcome rain as it had rained much in the last few weeks even though it had been promised (threatened) for many days! The skies cleared late in the afternoon and allowed our lunch guests to view the garden albeit wearing padded jackets! Continue reading
