You will be aware that I love tulips and luckily they grow well in my very free draining soil.  Tulips hate summer wet which is why in the UK it is usual to lift and store them for replanting the following autumn – that is a lot of work so when I lived in England I usually treated them as annuals and planted them in pots. I love the days it feels like spring!

Last Wednesday was a glorious day and yesterday (Tuesday) and today are the same; but the days in between were horrendous.  Strong cold winds and three days of continuous rain spoilt the weekend and Monday; it really hard to believe on a day like today that it can be so different! Continue reading

In a vase on Monday – and more tulips

Monday has arrived again and I haven’t posted since my vase last week.  I have had a virus and not felt up to doing very much at all and on Wednesday last week the winds were so strong it was almost impossible to stand up.  One of the canes helping to support the new Carrob broke in too leaving the tree blowing wildly around and so despite the cold and wind I had to help rescue it.  Continue reading
