The Slope on Thursday 21st November

This week has been noticeably colder, the fire has been a welcome necessity in the evening and some mornings it would have been nice to have some heat in the bathroom; I think now is the moment the heating will have to be turned on at least for the mornings and evenings, during the day it is warm enough if you are working.

My bulbs are all planted, the quickest I’ve ever manages to get them into the ground!  This is partly due to the fact that my order was relatively restrained this year.  Almost all the bulbs have gone into one bed to create a spring walk, more about that when they begin flowering next spring.

Today’s images don’t have the bright look of summer light but are decidedly autumnal.  I wrote this a moment before going outside to take the photos and guess what?  The sun came out and all was well with the world, I do need to see some sun light or I become very down, it is one of the things that makes living in Italy so good for me.

There was only about 2 minutes between taking the image above looking down the slope to the one looking up.

Not much change in the plants, the Eschscholzia are growing; I’ve been pulling more out around any young shrubs that I don’t want suffocated, more will have to come out!

What is the weather like where you are? Is winter taking over from autumn or are you still enjoying some warm days and sunshine?  If you’re in the southern hemisphere how is your spring progressing, tell us about your warm sunny days. Don’t forget tomorrow is GBFD, I’m looking forward to seeing what foliage is important to you at the moment.

  1. Glad you aren’t getting all that torrential rain where you are Christina. It’s been in our news all week. Here it has been damp and grey for what seems like weeks, so I know what you mean about needing blue skies. Nice to see some autumn colour with your persimmon tree. 😀

    • We have been really lucky as Sardinia isn’t that far away but the wind was blowing the bad weather down to Calabria and Sicily. Weather always seems to be extreme here; too hot, gale force winds, torrential rain – never just gentle weather!
